A movie junkie's dream.

REVIEW: DVICO TVIX M6600N

>> S$699 >> www.tvix.co.kr

Just as everyone is catching up on the idea of networked media players, Divco introduces its 5th-generation network player. With its brushed aluminium shell, it gives an air of familiarity to those who are used to the look of traditional tuners and amplifiers.

Not only does it have the usual slew of media capabilities, it comes with a Digital TV tuner and a bay to hold a standard 3.5” hard drive, giving you PVR capabilities. And because it is networkable (and with wireless-N for that matter), you don’t have to store your videos onboard.

It supports full HD (H264 profile 4) playback as well as FLAC lossless audio, meaning that even the most discerning (aka fussy as hell) media junkies will give this a second look. And why not?

RATINGS

>> Performance: 5/5
It has almost every feature and it plays almost everything. Instead of fussing about codec compatibility, this player gives you a pretty good chance of spending your precious time enjoying yourself instead.

>> Ease of use: 4.5/5
Fairly easy to get into despite the myriad of features available.

>> Style Factor: 5/5
The pseudo-amplifier look is stylish and sells the “serious gear” impression.

>> Frills: 3.5/5
The bare necessities are given here, including a HDMI cable.

>> Total: 18/20

Verdict

It looks good, and works pretty good. It does almost everything that you could think of or wish for; even the remote buttons glow-in-the-dark!
