Most of us would probably be content with average-quality music that our earphones churn out while plugged into our Zens/iPods/mp3 players, but some would rather stick toothpicks into their ears before listening to ‘average’ audio quality.

Fortunately, those belonging to the second group can (hopefully) keep their ears intact thanks to the DACport, which is simply a portable “Class-A’ headphone amplifier that connects via USB so that you can enjoy quality music anytime, as long as your player has a spare usb port to accommodate it.

Except that for US$500, some of us might rather put up with the crummy sound quality, unless good music is a matter of life and death for the true audiophile.
