Blu-Ray is hot hot hot. And Verbatim knows this, or else it wouldn’t be showcasing six new Blu-ray Disc (BD) products at CES 2008, which are scheduled to begin shipping in the first half of 2008. On the line-up are: 4x BD-R, Single-sided Double-layer 2x BD-R and BD-RE, Mini BD-R  and BD-RE, and 1-2x BD-R LTH TYPE discs.According to Verbatim, users can record an entire disc in 23 mins with the 25GB 4x BD-R. With the dual-layer 2x BD-R disc, users can record up to 50GB of HD-quality video on a single side of the disc.

Verbatim’s new 7.5GB Mini BD-R/RW discs can be inserted into a BD-compatible camcorder to provide one hour of continuous video capture on high-definition. Lastly, the 25GB BD-R LTH Type discs can be burned at speeds of 1x or 2x. The discs use a new organic dye in the recording layer which will make it more affordable.

In addition, Verbatim has developed a proprietary, super-hardcoat scratch-resistant finish that is that will be featured in all its BD media.
