Sony is now outfitting two Cathay Cineplexes in Singapore with their latest CineAlta 4K SRX-R220 digital cinema projectors, LMT-100 Media Block servers and LSM-100 Screen Management System. The new CineAlta 4K digital projector offers 4K image resolution which is more than four times the pixels of the best HDTV specifications which is 1,920 x 1,080.

It’s called the IDTV (Integrated Digital Television) F8 and it is not only Full HD, but also comes equipped with a built-in MPEG4 AVC (H.264) tuner and also DVB-Terrestrial TV tuner. Both technologies allow users to watch HD terrestrial broadcasts (like MediaCorp’s HD5 channel) without the need for another set-top box.

Viewsonic has released a 19-inch widescreen LCD monitor that supports a the screen resolution of 1,680x1,050 pixels, which is normally seen only on 20-inch screens and above. The monitor also boasts of a 2ms (gray-to-gray) response time and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. These mean that it’s geared towards entertainment like gaming and movies.
