Posted by Drew in NewsMoviesGamingEventsEntertainment

If you're still struggling with your Christmas shopping, then RUN to Raffles Place MRT and check out the Simply Toys clearance sale. I was there recently, and I saw plush versions of Gizmo from Gremlins, World of Warcraft figurines, and a TON of Star Wars merchandise going at crazy discounts.

There's a lot of stuff there, and everybody loves receiving movie merchandise as gifts. At least, I do. So if you feel the need to buy me something this year, this is a good place to start your shopping.

The sale is on from now till 8th January, 2009. Stocks are changed daily!

If you wanted to see Hugh Jackman shirtless and practically naked, you've got it in this teaser I saw at JoBlo.com. If you wanted to see Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights twirling cards and looking pretty hot, you've got it in this teaser. If you want to see women, well... there's a random chick that changes colour. Not very hot, but it's the best you'll see.

Anyway, this teaser is the shiznit.

Lesbian Vampire Killers

While all the girls are going crazy over that Brit-boy from new vampire movie Twilight, the guys can also indulge in their blood-sucker fantasies because there's going to be a new movie next year called Lesbian Vampire Killers. With a title like that, I don't think anyone's all that fussed about who's starring in it or directing it, but for the record it's from the two guys that do TV show Gavin and Stacey. Empire Online has a poster of the new movie, and it pretty much tells you that you can expect everything you wanted from a movie like this.

Movie Review: City of Ember

Posted by Priss in Movies

City of Ember is a science fiction fantasy film based on the novel with the same title. I watched this film with many expectations as an avid Sci-fi movie goer, however, the film fell below my expectations.

Ember, an underground city built to last for two hundred years while some unspecified disaster was happening on the surface of Earth, was dictated by the corrupted Mayor Cole (Bill Murray). The two teen protagonists of the movie, Lina Mayfleet (Saoirse Ronan) and Doon Harrow (Harry Treadaway), embarked on a journey to leave the dystopian city that was now falling apart.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Well, if you're a mad movie fan like myself, there's the Alliance/Innoform DVD sale over the entire long weekend in Ubi. All their DVDs are going at up to 90% off, so my wife and I are definitely heading in with our wallets. Maybe get some Korean shows as Christmas presents for our moms.

After that we'll head to Ben & Jerry's Chunk Fest, happening tomorrow between 2-11pm at Fort Canning Green. Live music and ice-cream... SWEET! Hopefully it doesn't rain out though... Anyway, click on for more details.

Astro Boy lives!

Astro Boy lives!

As we slowly get older and older and more out of touch with the latest pop trends, one consolation is that the world's filmmakers are slowly remaking all of our childhood cartoons into modern feature films. They did it to Transformers and GI Joe, and they're going to do it to Masters of the Universe. Well, Japan is in on the gig too, so Astro Boy will soon take to the screens in full modern CGI glory. Cinematical has the first released still, and you can check out the high res version there.

If you want a further trip down memory lane, click below for a collection of old 80's cartoon intro sequences.
