The supposedly "World's First Touch Screen PC" has yet to have been delivered to Justin's desk, so if you are looking for technical overviews, I will have to say, "not so soon?"
However, for your reading pleasure, let me just go through what this "Touch" phenomenon is suppose to be (Lately everything seems to revolve around "touching"). More details below. The Eee Top ET16 Series, is not a netbook, but an all-in-one touchscreen computers equipped with 15.6-inch widescreen (16:9). five-wired resistive touch panels that enable users to manipulate what they see onscreen by applying direct pressure with their fingertips. In other words, yes, it is something like how you navigate your iPhone (if you have one). Although housed in a compact LCD monitor form factor, the new Eee Top ET1602 and Eee Top ET1603 offers a rich complement of features, such as Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity for speedy and reliable Internet access, built-in high fidelity speakers for crystal clear audio and an integrated 1.3 megapixel web camera and microphone array for convenient web conferencing. The significant difference between the ET1602 and ET1603 is that one uses an onboard graphics and the other a discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450 graphics solution. But "hey" who needs a ATI Radeon when we are just running on Intel Atom N270, right? (It is probably just me.) That aside, the characteristics of the Eee has not changed. It is still "Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play." To set this PC up all you have to do is attach a power cord, and they are ready for use! These machines are basically catered to users new to Windows and would appreciate the simplicity afforded by an icon-driven, touch-and-select interface. Looking for more details? Well, I guess you will have to wait till we review it! Trackback(0)
