Hey M8, is that a Hi-Def Samsung M8?
Pop quiz: What’s better than a 42-inch LCD TV? Well, a 46-inch one of course! Now that we’re done with that brilliant Q&A session, let’s take a look at the 46-inch Samsung M8 Full HD LCD TV.
First off, it’s Full HD, which really matters today whether you understand it or not. That means it’s a has an excellent 1080p (1920x1080) display screen. Translated, it means better quality pictures which is a perfect fit if you have a High Definition (HD) player or HD broadcast subscription.
Setting the TV up is a breeze despite Samsung’s attempt at overwhelming us with three HDMI ports (the exact thing that you use to connect to HD players for a complete HD experience), two composite ports, one S-Video, one PC input and two component ports. Yes, you can even connect your PSP Slim to this if you wanted to.
Having three HDMI ports means that you could connect more HD devices to the TV at any one time. That’s like being able to have a HD player connected, a HD game console and then have another port for your digital camera or HD camcorder.
Watching Blu-ray movies (we had the Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray player to match) on this Samsung M8 46-incher is a really rich experience. Deeper blacks (thanks to HDMI v1.3), brilliant colours and crisp pictures is what sold us. The LCD TV has a wide 178-degree viewing angle that allows guests sitting at the sides to immerse into the viewing experience too.
Samsung has also made this 46-incher couch potato friendly. We don’t want to mess with micro-tweaks to colour, brightness and contrast settings so there are easy to access presets for HD movies, game and also for the average viewing environment.
When it come to style, Samsung has gotten it right with a classy glossy black finish for the LCD TV. It’ll fit most environments unless the decorations are inspired by Gaudi.
The price of the Samsung LA46M81B (yes, that’s the model number of the review unit) is actually a slight premium but that’s easily justifiable with the quality of the product.
