IT Show 2008 Field Report 2

It’s another day in the IT SHOW 2008, and Gadget3 has already signed up more than 500 members on site at booth 6535. According to Gadget3 promoters, our new members consisted of some very tech saavy geeks who trawl IT blogs such such Engadget and Gizmodo and ahem, we won’t mention any more names here.

(not for the freebies) were generally receptive to Gadget3 as new reference point for gizmos and toys. Some new members were already avid subscribers to technology magazines, and boy did we see March copies of PC magazines, going at a special price of SGD5, flying off the shelves!

The 6th and 4th floors of the IT show were filled with bargains galore. And we scooped out some deals for you from some of the biggies from the show!

Sony Ericsson (Booth 6321)
The nature-inspired S500i was going at SGD358 nett. Unfortunately, the pretty green and silver model is not available at the moment. Available on site were the white model with a copper ring (SGD388), and a black and copper coloured model (SGD358).

Also spotted was the cute crimson red Z320i going for SGD168 nett. It’s also available in Atlantic blue. It features a one click access to a 1.3 megapixel camera. Girls would like the illuminated icons that flash on the phone surface when incoming messages and calls beckon.

Right outside the exhibition hall at level six, shoppers were spotted queuing up for their free cuppa coffee. Tempting, very tempting (see picture below).

Canon (Hall 404)

Canon’s PIXMA MP510 inkjet
Those looking for a really brilliant inkjet printer can check out Canon’s PIXMA MP510 inkjet going for SGD239. The Canon representative printed out a photo of an Audi RS4 and we were highly impressed.

The printer has a 4800dpi resolution, prints up to 17ppm in colour, and supports storage cards. It comes with a free Targus Backpack worth SGD80, a black ink PG-51 worth SGD23.90, and a free trolley and USB cable.

Canon IXUS 860 IS camera

Also on offer from Canon was the very sturdy looking IXUS 860 IS camera. It takes very high quality pictures and is going on offer at SGD599 (USP: SGD699). It comes with a 8MP sensor, 28mm wide-angle lens, and three SD cards with 8GB of storage, a 23-in-1 card reader, and digital kit bag and a camera case.

Pioneer (Hall 404: Booth 8301)

KURO flat screen 42” TV
The new Japan made Pioneer KURO flat screen 42” TV was going for SGD2,999 (SGD1,000 discount), while the 50” unit was going for SGD5,999 (SGD2,000 discount!).

Pioneer will throw in a free CX500home theatre system, and free mounting and installation, worth up to SGD1388.

Sharp (Hall 404)

SHARP MP4 Player MP800

The new SHARP MP4 Player MP800 was presented to us by a very pretty model (see picture) and we like the say the player and the model both matches up to expectations in terms of performance. The 2GB model has superb audio, is only 42.5g, and goes for SGD129.

Brother (Hall 404: Booth 8305)

Brother MFC-465CN inkjet
Brother also has its own printer deals, and what caught our eyes was the 6-in-1 function MFC-465CN inkjet going at SGD328 (discounted). It prints up to 25ppm in colour in a 1,200 x 6,000 resolution, and comes with 32MB memory and a free ink cartridge.

Brother HL-4040CN
For business printing, the Brother HL-4040CN laser printer is very economical, printing up to 2,500 B&W pages on one toner, and up to 20ppm in colour. It goes for SGD688 (discounted) and comes with a free toner and free delivery.

LG (Hall 404: booth 8205)

We spotted an interesting DVD-RW/R/R+Recording + VCR combination player at the LG booth going for SGD399 (USP: SGD499). It boasts of one touch dubbing and records in multiple formats.

ASUS (Hall 404: booth 8310)

The new ASUS F8Sn laptop with the Intel Core2 Duo Processor Penryn T9300 and nVidia GeFeforce 9500M GS (SGD2,598) was sold out at 1pm on Friday!

Audiohouse: Toshiba (Hall 404: booth 8410)

The Toshiba 32A3000E 32” HD LCD TV was going at a very special offer at SGD7,99 (USP: SGD1,299) to the first 100 customers only. The last we noted, 33 units were already sold at 4pm on Friday)

Samsung (Hall 402 and 403: booth 8328)

This cute Samsung SGH-i450 was going for SGD589 with a free1GB MicroSD preloaded with ten MP3 tracks. It goes for a further SGD20 discount if you are one of the first 10 customers each day.

Singtel (Hall 402)

Singtel’s lucky dip booth was vibrant and sure attracted kids and families alike with their signature old school dip box. Singtel’s new customers will stand a chance to win 11 prizes, including a Motorola K1 phone and an Acer Aspire L320 Mini PC.

SIGMA Japan (Hall 401: booth 8335)

The very appealing new SIGMA DP1 compact digital camera with the power of a DSLR goes for SGD1,599 with a free 4GB SD card.

Lenovo (Hall 4: booth 8358)

Buy any Lenovo PC and stand a chance to test the enormous AT&T Williams F1 Simulator Car, which took up much of Lenovo’s floor space! The H100 Desktop going for SGD999 was marketed as lenovo’s best buy! It even comes with a free limited edition F1 jacket and a brother all-in-1 printer (DCP-135)!
