Featuring a black and matt grey finishing, the TyTN II is quite bulky and weighs 190g with battery – a tat heavier than its predecessor and most mobile phones. At the front is a 2.8-inch TFT LCD touchscreen with backlight which is great to look at and supports a resolution of up to 240x320. The screen is reflective enough to be used as a mirror when it is off, but like most mobile devices, this one is also a fingerprint magnet. The TyTN II also has a 3-megapixel CMOS camera at the rear and a VGA camera above the display for taking pictures and making video calls. A QWERTY keyboard slides out easily from the left of the PDA phone and comes with backlit keys to type on. However, you would find yourself relying mostly on your thumbs to type as the rest of the fingers are used to support the HTC. When you slide out the keyboard, the screen also changes from portrait to landscape mode for a comfortable view when you type. For those who are interested to know its hardware specifications, this one is powered by a 400MHz Qualcomm MSM 7200 processor and comes with 256MB ROM and 128MB SDRAM memory. If the built-in memory is not enough to store your media files, the TyTN II has a microSD card slot for use; the manufacturer also included a 1GB microSD card in the package. In the connectivity department, the TyTN II offers Bluetooth and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi for you to connect to other mobile devices and wireless networks. On top of that, the HTC is also HSDPA-capable (and can support up to 384kbps upload and 3.6Mbps download speeds for wireless access), which is useful especially if there is no Wi-Fi hotspot at where you are.
Overall, the HTC TyTN II has all the features for the busy mobile professionals as well as users who want entertainment and Internet access on the move. But obviously, such PDA phone is not cheap; it is retailing at S$1,398 (w/GST).
