Baybeats 2008

If you have nothing to do over the weekend, and are in need of a good night out, then we suggest that you head down to the Esplanade for Baybeats 2008! Launched in 2002, Baybeats is Singapore's local alternative music festival, and features both local and international acts. Some local bands you can expect to see include Caracal (pictured above), Amberhaze, Electrico and the Analog Girl. International acts include The Lucksmiths from Australia, Agrikulture from Indonesia and Transition from the UK. For more info on the whole line-up, click here.

Long wait for the Half Blood Prince

Have you been eagerly anticipating the The Half Blood Prince? Well unfortunately, we've got some bad news. Warner Bros has announced that they'll be pushing back the movie's release date from November 21 this year as originally planned to July 17 2009. The reason? They said that they needed a blockbuster release next summer because of the great success that “The Dark Knight” had at the box office. Oh well, looks like we just have to wait that little bit longer. Sob!

Not doing anything on 27 August? I think it's best you check out ExxonMobil's Campus Concerts opening show, Timbre MusicFest on Campus, at the NUS University Cultural Centre (UCC). Running from 6pm right up till 11pm, the Timbre MusicFest is a treat for all music lovers, and features both local and international acts, like The Soulfellas and 53A from Singapore, and Blue Shaddy and Rick Steele (pictured above) from Australia.
