An undying VAIO fan? Sony has released six new VAIO computers – three laptops and three desktops – for those in need of an urgent replacement, or just need another(!) beautiful laptop. The prettiest is the VAIO CS series (above), a stylish, glossy 14-inch series with a 320GB HDD and 4GB memory. It even has a Motion Eye camera in the LCD Bezel and touch sensors and LED lights which illuminate when activated via touch or music. A 12-Tone Analysis system also categorises users music library in 24 mood elements for more fun. Best of all, it only goes for an affordable SGD1,499.

One thing about working in a tech office is that while there's a lot of cables, motherboards, mobile phones and tech equipment scattered around, there's not much in the way of nature (unless you consider the fungus growing underneath John's telephone cradle). With that in mind, I thought I'd brighten the place up with some pets. You can't really keep a dog or a rabbit in a place like this (they'd chew up the power cables) and a goldfish is a little bit too high maintenance, so we got the next best thing: Sea Monkeys!

Hello Kitty Pancakes

This morning I woke up to a pleasant surprise. My darling wife had gotten up early to cook me up some Hello Kitty's for me to eat. No, she's not a chef from Guangdong and "eating Hello Kitty" is not a euphemism for bedroom activities; she made some pancakes using a special Hello Kitty pancake pan that my sister got us as a wedding present. The Hello Kitty pancake pan is simply just a small pan shaped like Hello Kitty, and judging from the picture above, you should get a pancake that looks identical to Hello Kitty, with the dark brown spots in all the right places.

It's official. Sony Ericsson is the Official Mobile Phone Handset of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It's still unknown what does this sponsorship will bring to everyone, but let's hope its more than just wallpapers and mobile ringtones. Stay tuned for more details of the sponsorship plans in the future.

Learn to shoot with Timothy Huang

Avid photographers interested in landscape photography can look forward to a visit from Taiwanese photographer Timothy Huang, who will be flying down to Singapore, courtesy of Epson, to share his expertise on professional photography with a traditional camera (he uses an Alpa) and digital altering. At the same time, visitors and guests can also view his beautiful works on natural scenery, which he shot during his travels over the years. The exhibition will take place from Nov 6th to 30th at Page One VivoCity. His talk will commence on the 7th Nov, Friday, at 6.30pm. Last week, the winning teams for the HP Total Care Challenge - Youth Category were announced and awards/prizes were given out. For the benefit of those who are not in the know, here's what the HP Total Care Challenge is about.

Together with our sister magazine, PC Magazine Singapore, the Gadget3 team was on duty to capture every moment of the ceremony.

Present to grace the ceremony and give out the awards/prizes, were the judges, Mr Philip Lee, SMB Solutions manager, Personal Systems Group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan, and Ms Jane Leong, managing director, CR Media Pte Ltd as well as Ms Serena Yong, general manager, Personal Systems Group.
